Minowa, a lovable downtown Tokyo
Joyful Minowa
An all-weather shopping arcade covered with arcades stretches over the area from "Minowa-bashi Station" to "Arakawa-itchu-mae Station" on the Tokyo Sakura Tram (Toden Arakawa Line). It is one of the most vibrant shopping streets in Tokyo, which is rare today.
Opened in the Taisho era (1912-1926), it is popular for its atmospheric Showa-era retro feel and has been used as a filming location for many movies, TV dramas, and music videos, including the movie "Shoplifting Family" and the TV drama "Three Old Men". The street is lined with a wide variety of stores, including a busy delicatessen and butcher shop, a very inexpensive fruit and vegetable store, a box lunch shop, a bakery, a clothing store, a stationery store, and a public bathhouse.
This time, I went to such a Joyful Minowa!
