Hida Takayama, where the abundant nature and historical streetscapes are a must-see, is famous for its heart-stopping views in daytime. But the gorgeous illuminations you can see at night mustn't be overlooked!

Each season, the illuminated spots are carefully picked to provide the best views. This means you can enjoy different destinations year-round.

Let's take a look at what is on view each season.

Winter

See lights glinting off the snowy scenery in Hida Takayama. Bathed in warm light, the enchanting scene will take your breath away.

Hida Takayama Winter Illumination

See the Red Nakabashi Bridge blanketed in white snow.

Place: Miyagawa River Nakabashi Bridge area (Shinmeimachi, Takayama)

Transportation: twelve minutes' walk from JR Takayama Station

Hida no Sato Winter Illumination

You cannot miss the view of this thatched-roof village enveloped in snow and lit up by night. This is a one-of-a-kind winter wonderland.

Place: Hida no Sato (1-590 Kamioka Motomachi, Takayama)

Transportation: ten minutes' walk from JR Takayama Station
