Jiro Osaragi was the pen-name of Haruhiko Nojiri (1897-1973) a writer of popular historical fiction in the Showa Period. His work was serialized in newspapers and magazines of the day. Osaragi was born in Yokohama but lived much of his life in nearby Kamakura, where he did much to preserve its natural heritage from the threat of development. Osaragi was also a noted cat-lover. His most famous works include Kurama Tengu, Ako Roshi and Kikyo.
Osaragi Jiro Memorial Museum has exhibits on the author's life and work including original manuscripts and a reproduction of his study from his last years in Kamakura.

Hours: 10am-5.30pm (closes at 5pm from October - March).
Access: The museum is an 8-minute walk from Motomachi-Chukagai Station on the Minatomirai Line or a 2-minute walk from Minato-no-mieru-oka-koen bus stop for buses #11 and #20 from Sakuragi-cho Station (on the JR or Yokohama Subway).
Other attractions in the Yamate/Bluff area of Yokohama include Christ Church, the Yokohama Foreigners' Cemetery, the British House Yokohama and the Yamate Museum of Tennis.
