Meeting Kazunori Yamauchi

I have a continuing series where I meet famous Japanese people and attempt to talk with them in Japanese. This weeks disastrous episode is Kazunori Yamauchi (?? ??), creator of the legendary Gran Turismo series on the Playstation, and CEO of Polyphony Digital.
I wanted to say, “Shashin wa daijoubu desu ka"” (Can I get a photo with you") but I was so nervous that I said, “Shashin wa doko desu ka"” (Where are the photos").  I should have gone with “Shashin o tote ii desu ka"” (Is it ok to take a picture") But I’m certain I would have screwed that up also.

As with Takuma Sato and most Japanese people in general, he was very tolerant of my bad language skills and figured out what I was trying to say. Thank you Kazunori. Stay tuned as I ask other Japanese celebrities, “Where are the photos"”
Yamauchi San was at the Los Angeles Auto Show promoting Gran Turismo 6 with Mercedes Benz. Their AMG performance division brought to life a full size version of the a virtual design that was only available in the game. It’s called the Mercedes Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo.
